The Malwara village project has been culturally close to the hearts of the UJDesigns Team. A gated community of row houses in the heart of Rajasthan’s arid dessert area, was a unique architectural opportunity for UJDesigns.Traditionally set, the village in Malwara today has residents who are well educated, city- living and exposed to urban lifestyles. Which meant designing homes for residents, that want their city comforts, while being able to touch base with their roots, culturally. The community homes have been architecturally designed with an aim to build a sustainable and consciously living community. The houses itself are designed to use locally sourced timber and dholpur tiles to combat soaring temperatures of Rajasthan. Each house has been designed with solar systems and rain water harvesting systems for an improved living. The interiors of the house have been designed to emulate urban lifestyles with contemporary accessories and modern amenities. While the external design of the house incorporates intricate jalis and screens on the roofs to enhance the play of light; the interiors of the house are designed to offer formal living spaces, entertainment zones and dining rooms, with chic bedrooms and neutral colour palettes for floor tiles.
